The first step in making stained glass windows is to make a sketch (called a cartoon) of the window to be produced.

Next step involves the making of your template pattern pieces used to make your window

 Pattern pieces are then cut using special scissors

 Glass is carefully cut and organized

 If the job calls for painted work, it is done with the utmost care and precision.

 It generally takes a few rounds of kiln firing before the painted work is complete

 The window is constructed with the lead and glass, and a little bit of patience (we like to think of these windows as giant jigsaw puzzles!)

 When the window is finished being put together, it must be soldered to keep the lead and glass together.

 To fill up the spaces between the lead and glass (and for insulating purposes) the window is glazed (or puttied) This step ensures no shifting around of the glass within the window

 One of the final steps on the window construction process involves giving the window a thorough claening to remove excess putty.

 Before installation or shipment your windows are carefully checked over for breaks or cracks

 Finally, if you are having your windows shipped to you, we carefully package them with styrofoam in heavy duty wood crates attatched securely to a wooden pallette.
